BioI've been sewing since I was three (no kidding, my mom's a professional quilter) but I'm new to clothes & costuming: I made my first few items all by my lonesome in Fall/Winter 2007! For a Colonial ball-gown to be worn with pocket hoops: two quilted under petticoats (one for me, one for my Mom), and an outer petticoat with 'perfect' one inch pleats (hah-hah)...I'm such a perfectionist, I'll have to get over that to get anything done in making 'as historically accurate as I can handle & afford' reproduction clothes!
I love many different eras in history, but 1800-1820 is my first love: which, of course, encompasses Regency (yay, the Jane Austen Evening!). I am a member of The Rappahannock Colonial Heritage Society, which does living history & dancing of around 1772, which is great fun (not much Regency to be found hereabouts), and I constantly dream of things like dancing by candlelight, exploring England in Regency attire, riding sidesaddle in a period riding habit, and wearing Victorian to the opera!
